Grand Theft Auto V (often abbreviated as "GTA V") is a third-person open-world video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was initially released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 17 September 2013; an upgraded/remastered edition was later released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 18 November 2014 and on PC on 14 April 2015. The game takes place in a remastering of San Andreas (based on Southern California) and features the city of Los Santos and the surrounding countryside of Blaine County.

Leading up to release; Rockstar claimed that GTA V's map would be the biggest map in a GTA title to date - "... bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined, with room to spare".

To date, the game has sold more than 95 Million units across all platforms.
